Kala or Black Chana is a terrific source of nutrients and is power packed with proteins. It is extremely low on glycemic index and is incredibly good for diabetic people. Black Chanas are a variation of the commonly found chickpeas. They possess the appearance of a withered hazelnut with a delectable, mouth watering taste and a nutty texture, but these are smaller in size as compared to the regular chickpeas and are of dark brown colour. Black chickpeas are usually used in Indian curries, for making besan flour, or these legumes can be consumed as boiled, sprouted or even fried, and also in green salads.
